In this 51st episode of Burning Platform, we have Fred Goff, CEO of Jobcase.
More than just a hiring site, Jobcase calls itself "a “people-first” social platform – "built to help you improve and manage your work-life."
As he says, Jobcase is focused on 80% of the employment market which may not have college degrees - baristas, trade jobs etc. Also it is pragmatic as community members provide practical, real-world advice to peers about opportunities, risks etc.
We had already started the discussion of the changing labor market when he presented about his company in the Analyst Cam episode here.
We converse a lot more about the changing labor market - the effect of the pandemic, the talent shortages, automation, anxiety in the work force and middle class trends.
One interesting, perhaps counter-intuitive point he makes is the stimulus checks have not made much of an impact on people's desire to work. He has data to back his viewpoint.
We cover a lot of ground - you may not agree with everything he or I say but it will make you think more about the crazy talent market we are in the middle of - lots of early retirements, rising wages and likely impact on inflation.
