I have been doing video interviews with a number of C-level execs and practitioners about acrobatics they have been seeing in various vertical sectors during the COVID-19 crisis and the "New normal" they can expect as the economy wakes up. Here is the index to the growing list of interviews.
The last few months have been tough on senior citizens, and by extension their friends and families. Many nursing homes and long term care facilities have been "fortified" and visits, even by family members, have been greatly restricted. Those who stayed at home have severely curtailed shopping, social and recreational trips. At home, they have been bombarded by a constant stream of negative news.
So it was nice to invite Mark Galloway, Chief Commercial Officer at GrandPad to talk about heroics he has seen in the community which works with senior citizens. GrandPad is a simple and secure tablet computer that digitally connects a senior to their family and friends. The average user is 82 years old and technology which most readers of this blog use on a daily basis is a big challenge for these seniors. The senior can easily view family photos and videos, play games, see weather for each family member, listen to music, check emails, make phone calls, place a video chat, and much more. As you can see from a few comments I extracted from the Slack Customer Channel that Mark shared with me, the user needs are fairly basic, but the joy to them and the peace of mind to their family and friends immense.
It's an uplifting conversation - please share the word with friends, family, neighbors with seniors who would benefit from being connected. It has been an extremely lonely and anxious time for many of them. We can all do better for them.
