Matt Ridley has a column in the latest Wired titled Apocalypse Not. Thank you, Mr. Rational Optimist for calming us about December 22 and other nightmares. Now, I can enjoy a few treats as we enter Fall
a) Having spent some time around the GOP convention in my home town last week, I am energized about the next 60 days. I am looking forward to the debates and more substantive positions from both parties.
b) On September 1 of the 2011 baseball season, my home team, the Rays were 9 games out of playoff contention and they miraculously qualified. This year, they are just 4 games out from qualifying and we have an additional wildcard slot. Even more exciting, Peter King talks in Sports Illustrated about the very real possibility of a 6,000 yard NFL quarterback season. Wow!
c) The enterprise tech world has been somewhat quiet over the summer. I am looking forward to Dreamforce to hear about the Social Enterprise, and Oracle Open World for the Customer Experience sessions, Workday Rising and OOW (again) for Fusion updates. Cognizant Community and Tibco TUCON are always chockful of innovative customers. Plenty of time on the Pacific and in the desert with exciting enterprise trends.
d) Through August, I had 470 innovation posts on New Florence. In the next 4 months, I look forward to another 200.
And with Mr. Ridley’s assurance, I can now start planning my list for Santa.
Yes, it is going to be a nice Fall.
