Mark Hurd replaces Charles Phillips at Oracle.
In joining the company, Mark commented "I’m excited to be a part of the most innovative technology team in the I.T. industry.”
Yes, if the IT industry is only defined as IBM, HP and Oracle that would be a true statement. But those three entities barely qualified for 10 pages in the 400 pages of my book on innovation.
It gives Mark Hurd a second chance to do what be did not do at HP. Emulate what Marc Benioff and Zach Nelson and Aneel Bhusri have been doing for years now - blending data centers and software and application management and upgrade services. He now has all the building blocks, including application software he did not have at HP.
On a personal note, I am sorry to see Charles go. Oracle customers have lost one of their biggest champions at Oracle. That's another challenge Mark will have to step in and meet.
Should be an interesting OOW in a couple of weeks.
