When I first heard of HCL’s “Employee First” philosophy I must admit I was a bit cynical. After all, it is almost trite to say “employees are our most valuable asset” when investor interests trump everything else in most companies.
Then I heard Vineet Nayar, the CEO present at TUCON and play this video and he sounded sincere.
Now I find him even more sincere as he sticks his neck out for BP employees and says what I hope other executives start to say even though it may not be the most popular thing to say
“Let committees grill the CEO and news anchors shake their heads at every mention of BP, but don't sneer at the company's employees. They've been attending to their duties and responsibilities through a string of problems and managerial shakeups in recent years....
BP's employees deserve our support because they are the ones who can, and will, resolve this crisis.”
