I wrote a bit tongue-in-cheek about the SCARS program (SaaS and Clouds Allowance Rebate System) - well, NetSuite has decided to make it real.
"Starting immediately, all new NetSuite customers who trade in their on-premise enterprise software will receive $500 off every $5,000 invested in NetSuite."
and added savings from retiring the energy-guzzlers..
"..program is designed to remove old, inefficient enterprise software from server closets and data centers worldwide in favor of the first cloud computing solution proven to contribute to the Green Economy. A recent impact study by Greenspace demonstrated that the average NetSuite customer reduces its electricity bill by $10,000 per year. "
NetSuite's promotion is over any negotiated discounts and is valid through October 31.
I asked NetSuite if they will create a Hall of Shame from the paperwork it gets from customers certifying their current on-premise systems - tempting but printing all that would not be very green, would it?
