I realize because of the wide range of topics this and the New Florence blog covers I am an attractive target for every category of tech PR. And esoteric mashups which cover multiple tech PR – so something which mentions green and social and mobile in one press release.
But most of that ends up in my junk email folder. And I get tired of unsubscribing.
Basic etiquette – ask first if I want to be on your mailing list. And resist the temptation to sneak in a press release with that request as a couple of you have done while supposedly asking if I want to be on your mailing list
Note to reputable PR firms – set up some industry guidelines. It is important to ask permission first, not forgiveness later. Your industry is becoming the source of most spam these days and that hurts you even more than the fly-by-night firms which create most of the traffic.
