AMR has made a name for itself with consistently good manufacturing vertical and supply chain research.
But I was scratching my head about its recent listing of top supply chains
a) Not a single Chinese company? Given the export dynamo the country is surely some of their companies have well oiled supply chains? Be fascinating to see how their supply chains flexed with the deep cutback in business?
b) Not a single utility or telco? As Verizon does its massive FiOS broadband rollout or as utilities look at alternative fuels, surely they are dramatically innovating their supply chains?
c) Not a single e-tailer like amazon? Their logistics have to be gargantuan and streamlined.
d) IBM as number 4? The majority of its revenues comes from services and software not PCs or servers or chips anymore – so not sure why their “supply chain” is that standout?
e) Apple’s supply chain – impressive – but AMR’s comments focus on its “killer financials and stellar opinion scores”.
Hmm…opinion scores…maybe we should run an American Idol version of this listing.
Wait we need make sure AT&T behaves. Poor Verizon would have even less of a shot :)
