Rumors are flying again that Apple is re-thinking its exclusive deal with AT&T. Patchy 3G coverage, expensive international coverage - the list of complaints about AT&T is long.
If it does do a deal with Verizon, I do hope it uses the iPhone's leverage and status to make sure the deal is much more consumer friendly.
No locked SIM. No $ 40 for a single 3 minute YouTube video when you are out of the country. No Verizon castration of Wi-Fi. No telco messing with the App Store. Fairer early termination clauses. Much better 3G coverage. Early access to planned 4G LTE network.
And no exclusivity - let the market drive plans and pricing.
It's Apple's chance to set some things it should have done right the first time.
