Obama says it is unacceptable the US is 15th in the world in broadband adoption. No argument there (and if we needed more proof of that the recent PCMag analysis provided it) but sounds like he is willing to commit government funding to fix it.
We are already paying telecom and cable companies more than all our other utilities put together. Now we have to pay an additional piece of our taxes?
Sounds like another bailout to me.
I can see the telecom industry reaction: Firstly, deny we are that far behind in world ranking. Secondly, blame it on Google for consuming more than it pays for. Thirdly, gladly accept the revenue.
It should be called a "windfall" but somehow it will just show up on bills as a "shortfall" charge.
