I guess it is a rite of passage. It was unprecedented for Infosys (the second largest Indian firm) to make a relatively large offer to acquire Axon. Infosys has traditionally grown organically and through much smaller acquisitions.
It is even more unusual for the bid to turn hostile. On Friday HCL also bid for Axon and Infosys has till today to respond.
Now comes word TCS may be interested in Siemens Information Systems. While this could be a significant beach head for TCS - both in European access and more infrastructure (to complement its application) skillsets - the exposure to German labor laws and unions will be a significant learning experience.
Nonetheless, TCS is the most global of the Indian firms - having established significant delivery presence in China, S. America and Hungary and I see it as part of its global evolution. As is the bid and counter-bid process for Infosys and HCL.
