Infosys's acquisition of Axon is being spun as an "expansion into Europe" or a way for them to have a "greater presence in consulting"
Axon, which I first wrote about in 1997 at Gartner, is a global player in many English speaking markets - UK, US, Australia - and happens to have a continental European presence. It is largely a SAP implementation firm, which if you were to ask McKinsey or Booz, is not "consulting" by a long shot.
It is good to see Infosys make acquisitions. But this just extends their existing, organically grown SAP practice. If the integration experience is positive I expect in the next few years you will see Infosys make real European and Consulting acquisitions.
