No, I am not a big fan of class action lawsuits. And $ 21 million to settle a lawsuit around wireless contract termination issues is a rounding error to Verizon.
But I was concerned given the Congress immunity to telcos over wire tapping, telcos were going to keep running to the FCC and Congress for immunity even around commercial issues. Indeed there was a recent discussion around immunity for lawsuits such as the one above.
So I am glad to see it has been decided in the court system. Even better would be if these things are directly settled with customers as most technology companies seem to be able to do.
