I am always looking for innovations to catalog on the New Florence blog. So I was excited to see joint work between U. of Cambridge in England and IBM around service innovation - download here.
But it is full of high-falutin' terms like "T-shaped professionals" and "adaptive innovators" - and concludes in wimpy fashion:
"Service Science is still in its infancy, but we are confident that by adopting these recommendations, we can accelerate its development ..."
Come on, IBM. You have the biggest services practice in the world. Some of the PwC partners you acquired have been in services for 4 decades - infancy? You have a fertile test bed to practice service innovation if you choose to
But as I have written before outsourcers and innovation do not go together easily.
