The FCC is about to dismiss the Skype petition to require wireless operators to allow any device on their networks because according to the Commissioner" the wireless industry's recent push toward openness makes such a rule unnecessary."
Huh?
Just a few months ago Verizon was invoking "national security" as the reason not to allow third party devices on their network. If you look at the practices today at the wireless companies they push their own applications and services every chance they get.
Cannot just accept their promises to be open in the future. Tell Skype you will review their petition again in 12 to 18 months, don't outright dismiss it.
