So my daughter has been complaining for weeks (months?) our home internet access "is slow". With my travel I keep ignoring it. I finally check and sure enough it is miserable. I checked using Webpass - which I have been fantasizing about recently. For what we pay for DSL we could be getting 45MBPS. We are getting 742 KBPS down, 142 up says their speed test page. Ouch! Unfortunately, they only service some California cities today.
So Friday afternoon, I go to the Verizon store. Cannot help. Call the DSL toll free number.
So I do. First guy tells me to call back - there's too much static on the line. Second guy tests our line. Confirms my speed I got from Webpass. Then cuts me off. Call again, and I get a nice lady who stays with me and test the line again and confirms the speed. And I go, but I am paying for the 3 MPBS "Power Plan". She hands me over to billing.
Billing says for the last few months, someone put me on a month-to-month billing. So I was getting the 768 KBPS plan for the higher price. Who did it? Not sure.
I just tell him to change me to the 12 month plan. Why did the Verizon store not do it in the first place 2 hours ago? Not sure. But the new speed will surely be on in 24 hours. Same rate as I am paying right now but 4 times the download speed, 6 times upload speed. Not Webpass, but an improvement.
I am so ready to be done I do not even try to fight with him or a credit for the last few months. Elapsed time of 2 hours - I should be billing them at my low rates!
48 hours later I am still waiting for the higher speed.
I hope I do not have to go through the Verizon call process again. Now you see why I am fantasizing about Webpass.
