The new Macbook Air is a marvel. 3 lbs light, yet 5 hours of battery life. So it beats my compact Toshiba U305 hand-down on dimensions really important to a business traveler. (I had to add a heavier 9 cell battery to my already heavy 4.6 lbs laptop to buy extra life). It also matches the 13.3 inch screen and processor speed and 2GB memory.
It's the "too rich" part which is concerning. For the machine and an external DVD drive, you would pay around $ 2,000 after taxes. For that I could pay for the Toshiba ( and get double the storage, 2 more USB outlets, and a LAN port), 2 Asus EEE laptops for the kids, and a couple of Air Force Ones.
And have money left to make a donation to Save the Earth or other environment friendly group and not feel guilty about not having the Air's green qualities

You can never be too thin or too rich
