The pranksters at Gizmodo walked around and blanked out a few screens at CES. OK, so a bit juvenile after the first couple of times..but not sure they deserve this much flak especially since they have apologized.
Let's see now. The show as in over-the-top Vegas. Had plenty of over-the-top gadgets like these (including a giant remote). Where in a major keynote, Bono has to be bleeped out. And the attendees are there to show off and take in creative/innovation stuff, not boring accounting or legal staff. Finally these are bloggers, not buttoned down consultants or analysts.
Bloggers do things differently. We use plenty of first person commentary. We use plenty of multi-media in our publishing. And yes, we play pranks.
Update: This column by one of Gizmodo's contributing editors appears to have been written before the remote incident but a) confirms the "over the top" event I wrote about above and b) probably means CES will punish them even more for the prank...
