I should really file this under "Way too much personal information" but hope you agree this is a process angioplasty opportunity. For TSA and for my life.
You open a cabinet at home and you see many (I am embarrassed to say how many) cans of Gillette shaving gel. The 2.5 oz size. And bunch of .85 oz Colgate toothpaste tubes. And bunch of quart size clear plastic bags. With all my travel, I need the trial sizes to meet the TSA 3-1-1 requirement.
But deodorant has been interesting. I ran out of 0.75 oz size Gillette Clear Gel kind . When I go to replenish, I find myself in the middle of a "new, improved" launch of the product -the Triple Protection System. And most stores only have the 4 oz version.
So I say, time to become a Mitchum man. Use it a few times and feel guilty each time as I read the sticker on it: "If your ratio of lighter fluid to charcoal is 2:1, you are a Mitchum Man". Cannot lie. I am not.
So being in tech, I next buy "micro-neutralizer" technology from Mennen. Tells me I need Vista.
Then I try to go low-tech with an Old Spice Invisible Solid. This Bruce Campbell commercial had me so frigging confused I brought home a 3.25 oz. Now I am so annoyed with the extra 0.25 I am back to the Mitchum.
Time for obsessive, compulsive behavior. In the last month, every city I have been to, I have looked for the 0.75 oz or 3 oz Gillette version. I zip in to a Target, a grocery store and am out within 5 minutes - dejected. I have even thought about taking a half used 4 oz stick and trying to convince TSA it's only 2 oz. I know - in that case I better show up hours ahead of my flight -)
I finally found a website with 3 oz sizes. I rapidly ordered a large quantity. I mean embarrassingly large quantity.
Enough to qualify for free shipping -)
