We have a Beagle, Peanuts and a Basenji, Perdy - two (close to) pure breeds. So, I was fascinated when someone recently told me how many different mixed breeds there are just with poodles.
So, as I listen to Jeff Nolan as he showed a few of us a Teqlo demo, I could help not thinking we are about to see an explosion in mixed breeds, sorry mash-ups. We woofed loudly a few years back when we could leverage Fedex's tracking API. Then we patiently waited for more treats. Then came Fedex with Google Maps and it all broke loose. Now we have Yellow Pages, Weather, Flickr, YouTube, eBay and every permutation possible. ProgrammableWeb reports over 1,500 mash-ups.
Now I would like to see a Second Life mash-up of Peanuts and Perdy (they are fixed in real life). Beagles are endless barkers. He would played The Colonel extremely well. Basenjis are barkless dogs. Beagles are always happy and wagging their tails. Basenji tails are always wound (though my son claims he scared her once that it unwound)
But Jeff is not interested in helping with our dogs. He wants to help users build light business applications with his tools. Not IT, end users.
To that Peanuts says - two woofs, one yip and a woof.
