IBM splashes its home page - CIO = Chief Innovation Officer.
I love innovation - have a whole category of posts on innovative uses of technology including one on IBM's Electronic Workplace and their clients like Xcel Energy. I wrote about the CIO as Chief Innovation Officer a while ago.
But I did not see much from IBM around how CIOs are going to fund this innovation.
I wish they would also talk about the CUCO - Chief Utility Crunching Officer on their site.
At their revenues of over $ 90 billion, many innovation budgets will have to come from crunching that mostly utility spend. The sooner they acknowledge it and start helping their clients transition there the better. That would be real innovation.
