The space shuttle (STS-114-Discovery) took off a few minutes ago. What a tribute to science and technology!
Living in Florida, I have taken detours off highway 1-95 several times to run in to the Kennedy Space Center and just see the IMAX movie on the shuttle. The views from space, the night time take off, the sonic boom, Cronkite's narration - sends chills down my spine even after it was made 20 years.
On a side note, here's to program managers who make tough "go/no-go" decisions even on more mundane IT projects. Your relentless testing, your sweat and your prayers all matter - even if you do not get much credit.
