In 1998, at Gartner we projected service providers would assume mantle of leadership in the IT world. We were dead wrong. With ERP, Y2K, ebusiness project overruns the services firms did not provide industry leadership - they almost bankrupted corporate America.
Will they perform better this time around? Buyers are more wary, but I would be so much more comfortable if I could see an Intel like price/perfomance driven leader in the services pack ...see my blog on that
