Watch CNN or Fox this week and it is fascinating to watch the changes in the various legislative bodies across the country. Republicans gaining chunks of seats, old farts like Jerry Brown back in power. Smells like change. Except we know better. What’s that old adage? Washington is 60 square of real estate surrounded by reality. (And Sacramento is about the same.)
In technology, we are witnessing a similar news orgy in the form of Oracle-SAP Lawsuit. I have friends who are expert witnesses. There are old farts in the stories I have known for decades. Riveting newsprint in a sense.
Except the reality looms large. It is about ERP maintenance dollars. Trillions of dollars surrounded by tech innovation elsewhere. Not really that riveting.
