A fluff peice, nice to read, warm and fuzzy, but lacking substance.
We used to be a country of accountability, personal responsibility, hard work, and faith. Maybe just getting back to that would be a start.

Jason, you are right of course, it is a fluff piece since most of us know our problems but I would not call his article warm and fuzzy. Made me angry at the state of our country...

While Jason has a good point about substance, I have to agree with the overall theme of the article: we're not as great as we once were or as great as we could be. For the first 150 years of this country's existence, each generation was just a little better and took the country to greater heights than the one before. Something changed in the last 50 years and we're slowly backsliding.

I guess I should clarify my comment. By warm and fuzzy I was referring to the liberal idealism that comes through in the piece, but rarely leads to real solutions. The issue is more fundamental that where and how the resources of this country get invested, which is why I say getting back to being a country of accountability, personal responsibility, hard work, and faith might be the right start.
