The boxes told me

Remember that funny IBM commercial where the help desk lady tells the truckers they are lost because the RFID tags told her so?

While the market is applauding IBM's quarter, I want to tell it it is lost. Why? Because its clients are telling me so.

On a side note:  some folks in logistics technology were not happy about the IBM ad. Most RFID tags are passive and cannot communicate, and those that can have a range of only a few feet. There had to be some combination of GPS and GPRS technology to communicate location of the truck.  You just fuel privacy fears that some help desk somewhere can track you by that underwear which had the RFID tag at the store.

Vinnie, would be interested to hear more about what the clients are saying? I'm finding little traction in SMB for IBM Products.

Nick, historically with its S/38, As/400, RS/6000 and their ecosystems of apps and services IBM was a player/influencer in the SME space. In recent space with SaaS or cloud computing it has been much less so. Its outsourcing group for the most part is focused on larger companies and deals.
