Few more questions for Mark Hurd

At Oracle OpenWorld, Mark Hurd CEO of HP used a pretty effective format for his keynote hour.  He fielded questions - pre-recorded in video - from a dozen attendees at the conference (see Dan Farber's report here).

Many of the questions were softball: Do you beat Larry Ellison at tennis? Could you recommend a good seafood restaurant in San Francisco? And Mark was at it charming best...

I would have asked him slightly tougher questions:

1) You have made 20+ acquisitions and Oracle has made 40+ in the last few years. Surely your paths will collide over future acquisitions. What top spin, volley and stroke combinations do you plan to use against Larry then?
2) You and your CIO Randy Mott proudly talk about HP's own data center consolidation and other IT spend reduction - almost in half. When can your customers expect to see similar reduction in their HP and Oracle spend?
3) You talked about how Yahoo and Google are great for your business - because their content drives need for more infrastructure and your products. But Yahoo, Google, amazon.com and other next-gen technology vendors are also showing how to build grids with cheaper, more generic infrastructure and open source software. How will their models impact HP and Oracle?
4) You mentioned a lot more consolidation in the industry by 2010. Neither HP nor Oracle have even 10% market share in outsourcing or telecomms, two of the biggest spends in most IT budgets. Could not players from those categories muscle into your markets?
5) HP has feet in both consumer (through printers and desktops) and enterprise markets. Which side of the business do you personally enjoy more?

and finally my softball question:

6) How is the seafood on ex-HP director Tom Perkins' new yacht?

A videotaped response would be just fine -)
